GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A Valley family says a behavioral health center that was supposed to help their loved one instead took his life.
Now, they’ve filed a lawsuit against Copper Springs East in Gilbert claiming staff gave him the wrong medication and ignored signs of an overdose.
Family and friends describe 40-year-old Kyle Slade as a devoted father, football coach, and mentor who always looked out for others.
“Oh my gosh, Kyle was just a sweet boy,” his mother, Christina Zundel, said. “He cared about everybody. He loved coaching the football team. He loved his kids so much.”
Slade checked himself into Copper Springs East in late September, seeking help for depression. Three days later, he was dead.
According to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Maricopa County Superior Court,
