MURRAY – In addition to several current office-holders registering to run again, the first day of filings for the 2026 election cycle on Wednesday included first-time candidates for Calloway County judge-executive, jailer and magistrate, as well as a former Murray mayor running for what would be his first full term.
Danny Hudspeth, currently the longest-serving member of the Murray City Council, has filed to run for mayor. He previously served as mayor from October 2009 to the end of 2010 after his fellow council members voted to appoint him to finish the remainder of Tom Rushing’s term. Rushing died on Sept. 8, 2009 after serving in office for about six-and-a-half years.
Incumbent Murray Mayor Bob Rogers told the Ledger & Times Wednesday that he had decided not to run for a third term.
