WAHOO, Neb. (WOWT) - Wahoo residents are having a hard time trusting what comes out of their taps. The city says a routine sample raised cause for concern.

Every month, each city is required to submit a monthly water sample to the state lab for testing. This go-around raised many eyebrows in the community after one sample came back positive for E. coli .

The last time this happened in Wahoo was back in 2012.

This morning, community members placed 1,500 flyers on doorsteps notifying each household of the advisory. They are still investigating the cause of the contamination.

Multiple causes possible

The wastewater operator for the city said a bacterial contamination could have many causes.
