Townsville is gearing up for a major event as US country-rap artist Jelly Roll is set to perform tonight. This concert marks his largest headline show in Australia, and the North Queensland city is celebrating with street art, baked goods, and tattoos inspired by the artist's redemption story.

Local artists Lavinia Letheby and Amanda Sadler dedicated three nights to create a mural honoring Jelly Roll. "We're super excited to welcome him here to Townsville," Letheby said. She previously painted a mural of pop singer P!nk in anticipation of her 2024 concert in the city. Letheby noted that the influx of international artists since the opening of the new North Queensland Cowboys home stadium in 2020 has been significant. "Doing these murals celebrates these big-name artists coming to Townsville. The flow-on effect for the whole town is just incredible," she added.

Small businesses are also capitalizing on the excitement surrounding the concert. Local bakeries are selling jelly rolls and other themed treats. Tattoo artist Alex Aguilera has been busy creating Jelly Roll-themed designs for fans. "I've already tattooed a minimum of 50 people and have quite a few booked in," Aguilera said. "It is cool to see people excited here — the excitement is contagious. It has given me the opportunity to meet new clients."

Cameron Jones, the stadium venue manager, expressed enthusiasm for the event. He mentioned that the concert will feature other country artists, including Shaboozy. "We couldn't be more excited; ticket sales are strong, and we're trending towards at least 20,000 people," Jones said. He also revealed that a 48-meter top-secret stage will be set up for the performance, and the venue will be decorated in a unique way.

As concertgoers prepare for the show, Jones emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, as temperatures are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius. Jelly Roll is looking forward to taking the stage later this evening, marking a significant milestone in his Australian tour.
