A 14-year-old boy has been arrested following an incident that saw a blaze at a tower block and fireworks thrown at police and firefighters on Bonfire Night.
Emergency services in Merseyside were called to Knowsley Heights on Primrose Drive, Huyton following reports youths were directing fireworks at a block of flats.
Firefighters subsequently put out a fire on a third-floor balcony, with fireworks also fired towards police officers and firefighters who at the scene.
In a statement late on Wednesday night, November 5, Merseyside Police said a female police officer suffered a minor injury to the leg.
The 14-year-old boy was detained at around 7.20pm on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is currently in custody and enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.
