MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) - The McPherson Police Department welcomed its newest mini officer to the force on Wednesday.

Rhys recently finished treatment after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2023. The department swore her in as an honorary officer for her optimism and strength.

She took the following official oath of office:

"On my honor, I will never betray my integrity, my character, or the trust of my mother. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for their actions. I will always try to be strong and brave. On those difficult days, I will remember I have the support of the McPherson Police Department.
