Evening activities at Warren Woods-Tower High School were canceled for Wednesday night following a “swatting” incident at the school earlier in the day, according to police and school officials.

Police rushed to the school on Bunert Road near Martin Road within minutes for a call of an active threat. Officers secured the building, conducted a comprehensive sweep, and determined it was a hoax call, the Warren Police Department said on its Facebook page.

The male caller said he was at the school and began making threats, authorities said.

Warren Woods Public Schools Superintendent Stacey Denewith-Fici provided an update a few hours after the call was reported about 4:30 p.m.
