Some 1.4 million Michigan residents who receive federal assistance to pay for food will get about half of their normal benefits for the month of November beginning Saturday, state officials announced Wednesday evening.

“We understand and share the disappointment many households feel about receiving only a portion of their November SNAP benefits," said Elizabeth Hertel, director of the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, in a press release. "These benefits are a vital lifeline for many Michigan families, especially with the rising cost of food."
