NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) - A student who is accused of making a bomb threat at Cocke County High School on Wednesday has been arrested, according to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the high school received the bomb threat around 8 a.m. The school was evacuated and CCSO, along with various law enforcement agencies and K-9 Bomb dogs, searched the school.
CCSO says after a thorough search, no explosives were detected and the school resumed its normal activities.
According to the sheriff’s office, following a lengthy investigation, detectives arrested a 17-year-old male student from Cocke County High School for Threats of Mass Violence. He was transported to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center in Knoxville.
