In Tuesday’s balloting, the power of the city Democratic endorsement carried more weight than incumbency, with the Democratic slate — Councilman John Mootooveren and first-time candidates Hayden Engert and Kim Wiggins — emerging victorious, with City Council President Marion Porterfield and Councilman Damonni Farley falling short after they launched third-party re-election bids on the Working Families Party line after they were not endorsed by the city Democratic committee and failed to qualify for the June Democratic primary.
