OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — News 4 has uncovered even more records showing former State Superintendent Ryan Walters paid his executive staff massive bonuses—this time, offering his chief of staff yearly bonuses worth more than the average Oklahoma teacher makes in a year, on top of a nearly $200,000 salary.

A new batch of open records obtained by News 4 includes employment documents for Walters’ chief of staff, Matt Mohler.

Walters hired Mohler as chief of staff at the beginning of 2025.

News 4 previously revealed Mohler was a Florida-based campaign consultant still actively employed by a Florida company at the time he joined OSDE in February.

In April, News 4 sent OSDE an open records request asking for copies of Mohler’s job description, employment contract and job offer letter.
