With Class B champion Horace Greeley enjoying a bye, only two Section 1 field hockey teams played in state regional semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 5. And when the final horn sounded that night, only one, Mamaroneck, in Class A, advanced.

Class A: Mamaroneck crushes Kingston 9-0

ACCORD — The vast majority of the second quarter of the Nov. 5 state regional Class A semifinal field hockey game between defending state champion Mamaroneck and Section 9 champion Kingston was almost balanced.

The problem was Kingston was already in a 3-0 hole. With 45.5 seconds left in the half, that became 4-0 and balance was out the window. The rout was on.
