NEW ORLEANS — Some Louisiana families say they’re caught in the middle of confusion over their SNAP benefits this week — money they depend on to put food on the table.
After state-issued emergency funds appeared, then suddenly vanished from accounts, many recipients say they’re left unsure when or how much they’ll receive.
That uncertainty has inspired one New Orleans legend to take action.
He says he’ll continue the food drive Monday through Friday for the rest of November.
“Cooking and giving — it’s just natural for me,” Ruffins said. “It’s a horrible time, but I’m happy to help families and kids however I can.”
Ruffins’ daughter, Neisha, says the effort has grown every day.
