SWISSVALE, Pa. —

Swissvale Borough Council woke up to texts, calls, and emails Wednesday morning after a video circulated on social media showing a now-former employee using a racial slur.

“People had a right to be angry, and I, and all of the other council members, elected officials share in that anger,” said Swissvale Borough Council President Christopher Ansell. Advertisement

Ansell told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the man shown in the video is a union employee who worked for the borough’s department of public works.

However, council announced at their meeting on Wednesday they took immediate action, and the man is no longer employed by the borough.
