A contentious septic inspection ordinance in St. Tammany Parish faces a new hurdle.

To ensure the inspections are free for residents, the St. Tammany Mosquito Abatement District has pledged $500,000 to go toward the ordinance.

However, once the council decided to exempt the northern part of the parish from mandatory inspections, the Mosquito Abatement District started reconsidering the amount.
