A prison nurse says his advice on handling a disabled inmate who suffered a seizure was brushed aside by guards who dragged the man to a cell and left him lying naked on the floor.
Wayne Hunt was only days into a sentence for dangerous driving causing death when he had an epileptic fit at Darwin Correctional Centre on August 29, 2024.
The 56-year-old struggled and yelled as prison guards pinned him down, put him in handcuffs and a spit hood then dragged him to an "at-risk cell", the inquest before Coroner Elisabeth Armitage has heard.
He was found unresponsive in the cell the next morning and rushed to hospital where he died two days later.
