Staff report

SALISBURY — Livingstone College football is 5-4, which is nice, and finished 4-0 at home, which is nicer, although the season is still missing something.

What it’s missing is a signature win. Livingstone’s five victories have come at the expense of Lincoln, Bowie State, Shaw, Allen and Virginia-Lynchburg. Those five programs have something in common. They all have losing records. Allen (4-5) has been the best of that quintet.

A win over Bowie State would have been major stuff not that long ago, but the Bulldogs of 2025 are not the Bulldogs of 2019.

Livingstone only has one game left in the season, but it’s a game that provides an opportunity for the ultimate signature win.

LC will play at Johnson C. Smith (8-1, 5-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the 4,500-seat Irwin Belk Compl
