WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new defence mechanism slated “Strict Account Security Settings” to defend users against targeted cyberattacks. WABetaInfo recently spotted this feature in the Android beta (v2.25.33.4) update. The security feature is expected to lock down certain functionalities within the app to better protect accounts of those at risk. Also, the messaging platform is improving spam protection with a cap on how many messages can be received from unknown accounts in hopes of reducing high-volume, unwanted contact.
