KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Kansas City International Airport will not be among the 40 airports where the Federal Aviation Administration plans to reduce flights by 10% starting Friday, according to a report from ABC News.
The FAA announced the temporary flight cuts to maintain safety as the federal shutdown continues to impact air traffic control staffing nationwide. Advertisement
Officials said many controllers are working without pay, leading to an increase in sick calls and forcing the agency to scale back operations at some of the nation’s busiest airports.
According to the ABC News report, the list includes major hubs such as Los Angeles International, Chicago O’Hare, and New York’s LaGuardia.
