The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 2:57 a.m. on Thursday in effect until 8 a.m. for Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia, Ulster and Washington counties.
"Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 to 45 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "The potential for wind gusts reaching or exceeding 50mph has now ended. We therefore downgraded our high wind warning to a wind advisory."
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," explains the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
