Marcus Smart makes terrible mistake stepping over line in last seconds of Lakers vs. Spurs
Marcus Smart messed up.
There’s no other way of looking at what the Los Angeles Lakers ’ veteran guard did with 1.2 seconds left in regulation against the San Antonio Spurs .
The Lakers held a 118-116 lead, and Smart had grabbed the ball to inbound.
He spotted a streaking teammate down the floor and rushed his action. Smart launched a quarterback-style pass without setting his feet.
The problem is this: Smart’s feet weren’t behind the baseline when he threw it. They weren’t even close.
And if a foot is over the line on an inbound, it’s a violation and a turnover to the other team.
