**Tragic Discovery: Couple Found Dead with Pregnancy Test** A couple from Barnsley were found dead in their home, with a positive pregnancy test beside them. Mark Martin Sinton, 42, and his long-term partner Claire White, 32, were discovered by Mark's mother on February 21. The couple, who had been together for 17 years and shared four children, were found lying on the floor in a state of undress. The inquest, held at the Sheffield Medico Legal Centre, revealed that the couple had a history of intravenous drug use, including heroin, cocaine, and methadone. Assistant Coroner Nathalie James stated that the couple returned home from the town centre around 5pm the previous day and went straight to their bedroom without speaking to Mark's mother. Mark's mother became concerned when she noticed their coats had not moved and went to check on them at approximately 3.15pm the next day. In her statement, she recounted, "I shouted at them, but they didn't respond. I knew they were dead. I didn't see their faces." Emergency services were called, but both were pronounced dead at 4.16pm. At the scene, police found a positive pregnancy test, a crack pipe, and other drug paraphernalia. Following extensive forensic post-mortems, the coroner determined that both had died from a combination of heroin, cocaine, and methadone toxicity. However, it was deemed "impossible to tell" who died first. Mrs James concluded the inquest by stating, "Based upon the evidence I have read and considered in detail, I am minded to consider a drug-related death. There was a long-established dependence on drugs, which was supported by the toxicology reports." The tragic circumstances surrounding their deaths highlight the ongoing issues related to drug dependency and its devastating effects on families.
