Australia’s last media titan Kerry Stokes has chaired his final AGM for Seven West Media before stepping away from the role early next year, but the 85-year-old insists he’ll never give up the fight for free television.

Stokes finished up the way he started — fighting. Taking a swipe at Netflix and streaming services during his final annual general meeting at Seven, he criticised their tax arrangements.

“They’ve taken out last year some $6 billion in revenue. They take the advertising and there’s no tax on it. They pay no tax here. And these people will go on until there’s nothing left,” Stokes said.

The 85-year-old said he’s preparing to step back, not down, from February when Seven is set to merge with the radio giant behind the Triple M and Hit Networks.
