Shopian, Nov 06: Police in south Kashmir’s Shopian district have secured three convictions under newly enacted criminal laws, marking a significant step in the enforcement of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and related statutes.
According to a police statement, the convictions were recorded in three separate cases registered at Zainapora and Heerpora police stations. The first case, FIR No. 90/2024, was filed at Police Station Zainapora under Sections 281, 125, and 324(3) of the BNS, along with Sections 4/181 and 5/180 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The second, FIR No. 34/2025, was registered at Police Station Heerpora under Sections 281, 125(b), and 324(3) of the BNS. The third, FIR No. 40/2025, was lodged at Police Station Zainapora under Section 329(3) of the BNS.
