BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Fire departments from around Kentucky responded to Tuesday’s deadly cargo plane crash at Louisville’s airport.
“That one is a tough one to watch. We’ve offered our support to the Louisville fire department and other departments,” Justin Brooks, the Fire Chief for the Bowling Green Fire Department, said.
The fire caused a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles around Jefferson County.
Brooks said that the plane crash is an event on a scale that firefighters in Bowling Green have not seen.
“The scale of an airport with how they have it up there, you can’t compare it,” he said.
Brooks said his department trains for situations like this through ARFF training, which are hands-on exercises that prepare firefighters for aircraft emergencies.
