The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) filed a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Thursday after Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that police permission for a public meeting in Hyderabad, which he was set to address, was abruptly denied.

The BJP strongly condemned the Hyderabad police’s decision to revoke permission for the public meeting, in the context of the upcoming bypoll in Jubilee Hills, and demanded strong action against the ACP, Punjagutta and the Returning Officer of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency. After the backlash, Hyderabad police gave permission for the BJP public meeting.

The police denied permission for the BJP meeting at Borabanda area, saying that another programme had already been given to another party, and cited the Model Code of Conduct.
