PEORIA, Ill. – A fire caused $40,000 damage at the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Peoria late Wednesday night.

Fire Battalion Chief Josh Maroney says crews were called to the building on NE Prosperity just after 11:30 p.m., finding fire in a kitchen.

The fire was put out quickly with the help of the building’s sprinkler system.

Everyone was evacuated safely. One occupant was displaced due to the fire and water damage.

Restoration efforts are underway. No injuries were reported at the scene.

The fire was determined to be unintentional.
