In a conversation with CNBC-TV18, former Indian ambassador to the US Meera Shankar said the recent Democratic victories in key state and local elections reflect growing discontent with Donald Trump.

Zohran Mamdani ’s historic election as the 111th mayor of New York marks the first time an avowed democratic socialist will lead America’s financial capital.

However, she noted that coastal states like New York and California have traditionally leaned Democratic.
