INDIANAPOLIS — The Pacers Foundation and Herbert Simon Family Foundation on Wednesday announced a $250,000 contribution to help feed central Indiana families as the federal government shutdown impacts food assistance programs .

The donation is going to the newly-created Central Indiana Food Relief Fund, which is managed by the United Way of Central Indiana and supports Gleaners Good Bank of Indiana, Midwest Food Bank of Indiana and Second Helpings, which supplies food to pantries across the state.

The total includes a $125,000 donation from the Pacers Foundation, which was matched by the Herbert Simon Family Foundation.
