Steven Finn vividly remembers the moment England knew they were going to win their last away Ashes series.
It was the back end of day one of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne in 2010. Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss were piling up an unbeaten century stand after Australia had been bowled out for 98. And the locals were heading for the exits at the MCG in their droves.
“It was mad, just bizarre,” Finn tells The i Paper . “You could just see people filing out. It was like Watford fans in the 80th minute when we’re 3-0 down. It was completely surreal but that was the moment when we sat there and thought ‘We’re doing this, we really are doing this’.”
