Vedanta Ltd’s thermal business units, Meenakshi Energy Ltd (MEL) and Vedanta Ltd Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant (VLCTPP) have secured orders to supply 500 MW of power to the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL),

As per the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), MEL and VLCTPP will supply 300 MW and 200 MW of power, respectively, to TNPDCL. The five-year contract, effective from February 1, 2026, to January 31, 2031, has been awarded at a tariff of ₹5.38/kWh.

Highest allocation

The 500MW secured by Vedanta’s power plants is the highest allocation of 1,580 MW tendered by TNPDCL, the company said in a statement.
