A new poll finds that most Marylanders are familiar with artificial intelligence, but most people have concerns about its use. The findings are in a University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Institute of Politics poll of 757 registered voters.

The poll finds 86% have “some” or “a lot” of familiarity with AI, while 14% have “little” or no familiarity with AI. Among those at least “a little” familiar with AI, 58% of Marylanders think that AI will have a negative impact on society, and 30% believe it will have a positive impact.

Pollster Mileah Kromer told WBAL NewsRadio that Marylanders were most concerned about the impact AI has on politics, and the view is shared equally among Democrats and Republicans.
