Arkansas is seeking $1 billion from a federal fund established by the tax and spending bill signed by President Donald Trump in July.

The state submitted its application Friday for its share of funding from the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program, a provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a news release.

Arkansas’ $1 billion would be paid out in $200 million installments over five years.

“Improving the health and well-being of all Arkansans is a top priority for my administration,” Sanders said in the release.
