Just days after winning the election in a sweeping victory, Mayor-elect Corey O’Connor has announced the first two appointments to his administration for the key positions of public safety director and chief of staff.

Dan Gilman has been named the next chief of staff, while Sheldon Williams has been nominated as the city’s next public safety director.

As promised on election night, the selections are a mixture of people intimately familiar with how city government is run and people new to city government in this capacity.

After his win on Tuesday evening, Mr. O’Connor said he plans to “bring a blend of people that understand Pittsburgh.”
