DETROIT, MI — Travelers through some of the busiest U.S. airports are waiting to learn Thursday, Nov. 6, whether they’ll see fewer flights as the federal government shutdown continues, the AP reports .
Detroit Metro Airport is expected to be among them, according to a CBS News report . A source provided CBS News with a proposed list of 40 airports across the country and the Detroit airport is one of them, the outlet reported Thursday morning.
The Federal Aviation Administration will announce the 40 “high-volume markets” where it is reducing flights by 10% before the cuts go into effect Friday, said agency administrator Bryan Bedford, the AP reported. The move is intended to keep the air space safe during the shutdown, the agency said.
