Swindon has its own GTA clone, albeit one full of frogs and child friendly violence, with a full launch scheduled for the coming months.
While the GTA games have consistently taken place throughout the US, there was one time where Rockstar Games tried its hand at a London setting via two expansion packs for the very first entry in the series.
Since then, though, there’s never been a proper attempt at a UK-centric GTA game, with Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser explaining recently that it’s because ‘there was so much Americana inherent in the IP.’
So, we must turn to other studios for British takes on the GTA formula and, as it turns out, one such example – one set in the town of Swindon – has been available in early access for over a decade and is now primed to launch in the coming months
