Almost a decade after conjoined sisters were separated in a history-making surgery, the girls are thriving and competing in a state cheerleading competition in Texas.

“After doctors said they weren’t sure if the girls would walk, they’re not only walking, they’re dancing,” Silvia Hernandez Ambriz, mom of Ximena and Scarlett, told ABC affiliate KIII earlier this month.
