W. R. (William) Felker was known as a highly esteemed banker, railroad builder, and civil leader in Rogers. He played a major role in not only building Rogers, but in what our county is today. Born in Barry County, Mo., in 1855, he became a store clerk in Washburn, Mo., in 1874 and soon purchased half interest in the business. In 1881 he sold out his share of the business and began to loan money and speculate on various merchandise.
