CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A murder suspect being held at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center died in August after he was mistakenly given another inmate’s medication, according to the medical examiner’s report.

The report states the man, Miguel Gonzalez Rosales, who had a history of bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder, was found unresponsive in his bunk on August 6, 2025. Corrections staff tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the jail, the MCSO said.

According to newly released documents, detention center medical staff unintentionally gave Rosales 110 milligrams of methadone, a dose prescribed for a recently released inmate.
