PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon Coast is no stranger to a storm, but this is the storm of storms with high winds, rain and King Tides approaching the coast the next couple of days.

The stormy conditions are bringing people out to watch from a distance, like Olivia Moench who was visiting from Colorado, but she wasn’t expecting anything like this.

“I wasn't sure this was normal or not," Moench said. "I've only seen the coast a few times and this was crazy I didn't really expect it. Now I know it's a thing."

These conditions are normal for this time of year as the King Tides approach the coast, said Koa Lyu, head of ocean safety at Cannon Beach Fire Department. Over the next couple of days wave heights will be anywhere from eight to ten feet high, if not higher.
