Glasgow City Council has approved a five-year plan to build over 6000 new affordable homes.
The plan, approved today (November 6), involves building almost 6400 homes across 165 sites in Glasgow .
It is hoped that the newbuilds will help to prevent and reduce homelessness, support refugee households, tackle child poverty and meet the needs of Glasgow's aging population.
Most of the new properties, along with an additional 550 private homes, are to be made available for social rent.
Now that planning has been approved by the council, the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP), will be submitted to the Scottish Government, along with the request of a £890 million grant required for the project.
