CORBIN, Ky. (WKYT) - A Corbin man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly pretending to be a police officer after stopping two teenage girls on a golf cart.
Stephen D. Smith, 53, was charged with impersonating a police officer following an incident in the Forego Trail area in the Tattersall community of Corbin.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Smith allegedly stopped the two girls who were riding a golf cart by showing a badge and claiming to be an assistant constable. Smith allegedly threatened to give the girls a ticket.
Investigation and arrest
A Whitley County deputy responded to the report Wednesday and spoke with the girls, their parents and later the suspect.
After investigating, the deputy Smith, who the sheriff’s office says had a badge when he was arrested.
