Pep Guardiola is sweating on Rodri’s fitness as Man City prepare to host a rejuvenated Liverpool at the Etihad.
The Spaniard has been in and out of the squad this season as he deals with repeated setbacks on the road to recovering from an ACL injury sustained last season.
He appeared off the bench as City beat Bournemouth last weekend , but was not in the squad for Wednesday night’s 4-1 rout of Borussia Dortmund.
Guardiola gave a characteristically vague update on his fitness, saying: “He does not feel perfect so that is why we do not take the risk.
“He will come back, this is a little setback. He needs a bit more time to feel good and play football. It does not matter if he plays good or bad knowing that he is fine and will not be out for a while.”
