There is uncertainty over the future of Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards on the eve of their Championship clash with Birmingham City.

Boro have made a strong start to the season under Edwards, who replaced Michael Carrick in the Riverside hot-seat during the summer, and sit third in the table after 14 matches.

Edwards’ work has attracted the attention of Wolverhampton Wanderers who are currently looking for a new manager after sacking Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira.

Wolves are rock-bottom of the Premier League table without a win and eight points adrift of safety already.

It looked as though Wolves would turn to their former manager Gary O’Neil earlier this week but he has now been ruled out of the running.
