Hayward Elementary School will switch to a new format of Spanish-speaking education next fall as neighborhood demographics continue to change.

Both Hayward and Rosa Parks Elementary School currently offer two-way Spanish immersion, which has a 50-50 ratio of English and Spanish-speaking children and works toward full bilingualism and biliteracy in the students there. All academic content is delivered equally across the two languages to students throughout the school day, according to the district website .

Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School has one-way Spanish immersion, which helps English-proficient students become bilingual and biliterate in Spanish, as they are fully immersed in the Spanish language the entire school day.
