THE NAVI Mumbai police has arrested a gang of 12 people who were allegedly involved in cyber crime linked to a banned gaming app and collecting bank accounts for cyber fraudsters across the country.
While the initial arrest was made from Navi Mumbai , the other accused were arrested from Thane and Pune . The accused were found linked to cases that collectively defrauded people of Rs 84 crores.
An official said they arrested the first accused from Navi Mumbai identified as Imran Shaikh (22), who would lure people in Navi Mumbai with money if they provided their bank account for a “government approved online gaming” app. An official said that the accused would make citizens open a bank account and took away the passbook, ATM and other documents from the banking kit to a place in Dombiv
