**Murder Investigation Launched After Prison Death**

A murder investigation has been initiated following the death of Kyle Bevan, a convicted killer, in his prison cell at HMP Wakefield. Police were alerted at 8.25am yesterday to reports of a deceased prisoner. Bevan, 33, was serving a sentence for the murder of Lola James, the daughter of his partner, at their home in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that they are treating Bevan's death as a murder. Three men, aged 45, 57, and 63, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody. Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team stated, "After extensive enquiries into Mr Bevan’s death we are now treating this as a murder. We are seeking to establish the full circumstances and as part of this continue to question three men in custody. His family are being kept updated as the investigation progresses."

Lola James suffered horrific injuries, described by medical professionals as comparable to those sustained in a high-speed car crash. She had 101 scratches and bruises on her small body, indicating the use of weapons. Bevan had moved into the family home shortly after connecting with Lola's mother, Sinead James, on Facebook.

Initially, Bevan claimed that Lola's injuries were accidental, alleging that she fell down the stairs after being knocked over by the family dog. However, medical examinations revealed that she had sustained severe brain injuries and catastrophic retinal damage. Lola was taken to Withybush Hospital but tragically passed away four days later, on July 21, 2020, without regaining consciousness. Bevan, originally from Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, denied murdering Lola but was convicted in 2023. The investigation into his death continues as authorities seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding it.
