LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After months of negotiations, union workers at the Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) announced Thursday they ratified a new contract.
32BJ SEIU organizers said the new contract "delivers significant gains in healthcare and job protections—ensuring better working conditions for employees and reliable maintenance services for residents," in a news release.
The new four-year agreement includes 100% employer-paid healthcare for individuals, with family coverage available for $250 a month.
“This is a huge win for all of us and will be life-changing for a lot of people, especially winning employer-paid health insurance,” said Ronnie Holcombe, a maintenance worker for LMHA and 32BJ Bargaining Committee Member. “There were members who couldn’t afford healthcare before.
