The Blue Jays have extended a qualifying offer for the 2026 season to star shortstop Bo Bichette , the team announced Thursday.
The qualifying offer for 2026 is $22.025 million. Bichette can either accept the offer and return to Toronto on the one-year deal, or decline it and become a free agent.
If Bichette declines the offer and signs with a new team in free agency, the Blue Jays would receive Draft pick compensation as a result. Since the qualifying offer system was implemented in 2012, only 14 players have accepted a qualifying offer.
Bichette has spent all seven of his big league seasons with Toronto and is a two-time All-Star who has led the American League in hits twice. The 27-year-old is coming off a 2025 season in which he batted .311 with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs and an
