Some snow has fallen in the Sierra since October. It hasn't been a lot, but with snowmaking technology, several Tahoe-area ski resorts will be opening in early November.

Ski resorts rely heavily on snow from mother nature. When we don't get much in the fall to early winter, resorts pull out the snow guns. Snowmaking technology has improved over the years, allowing resorts, when the conditions are just right, to pump out snow.
